TheHistory of Kutahya

       Our city has had an important historical place for seven thousand years. Lots of classical books show that Ezop,the famous fabulist,was born in Kütahya. We know from the coins that Kütahya's name was Kotiaeon in those ages. Frig public migrated to Anatolia B.C. 12 and then they dominated to those areas by eliminating Hittite Emperor. Kimmer public defeated the king of Frigya, III. Midas and then they obminated Kütahya and its around.

       When Alyattes was the king of Lidya, Lidya destroyed Kimmer and got the power. Pers public who conquested Anatolia B.C.546, defeated Lidya's army. Iskender from Makedonya defeated Pers near Biga lake 334, got the power in those areas. When Iskender died B.C. 323, Antigonus was the leader of those place. It was dominated by Roman B.C. 133. Kütahya and its castle kept an important historic center in Bizans period and then it was dominated by Anatolian Seljukian.

THE LAKE SIDE OF SOFÇA

       Kutalmışoğlu Süleyman Şah who established Anatolia Seljukian in 1078, captured Kütahya. In 1097 Kütahya was attacked by crusaders abd was conquested for a little time then it was dominated by Turks again. Kılıçaslan II convested Kütahya with other losing place. We can say that Hıdırlık masjid, Yoncalı Hammam and mosques, Balıklı Mosques and Balıklı convent were important places in Seljukian period's works.

        After the first world war, Kütahya was conquested by Greek on 17th July 1921. But on 30th August 1922 it was conquested by Turks. Kütahya Zafertepe Çalköy was the place where our first leader Mustafa Kemak Atatürk gave his order.
